About the role

The role is initially for a 6 month contract, working from our Head Office but could extend further as product uptake dictates for the right person.

You will be working within our cross functional agile development team. You will be responsible for analysis,
programming in full stack technologies, design and most importantly the build and deployment.

You will actively participate in daily stand ups, code and design reviews, product demos and contribute extensively to the smooth functioning and performance growth of the team.

You can write well-designed, testable, scalable, reactive, high-quality code and ensure designs are compliant with specifications, standards and best practices.

You thrive in a changing environment, stay up to speed on new technologies and introduce them to your teammates.

Design and implement low-latency, highly available and performing applications that scale for thousands of users.

Create universal/isomorphic, single-page apps for enterprise customers using JavaScript on frameworks such as React and NodeJS.

Develop ReactJS front end implementation in coordination with service APIs backed in NodeJS.

Using JavaScript frameworks, you will develop reusable components that can be leveraged across our web application.

Increase test coverage via unit and integration tests. Contributing unit tests for the code you
work with.

Help define architectures and design patterns.

Work closely with business, product, QA, design and UX teams to design the best solutions for our customers.

Interface with Project Manager and Technical Coordinator to determine requirements, resolve problems, and perform testing.

Collaborate to implement and improve our user interfaces and user experience.

Rapidly work from rough goals to drive specific implementations, acknowledging and communicating tradeoffs.

Clearly communicate, define and develop additional service APIs to support advances in user experience and front-end capabilities.

Effectively use tools and ingenuity to identify and fix defects before they become a problem.

Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques.

This is an exciting and varied role for someone who is detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and problem solving aptitude.

Skills and experience

• In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and
  deployment).
• 4-6 years' prior experience as a full stack software developer using industry standard
  frameworks.
• Proficient in Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React/Redux, MySQL, Python.
• 4-year bachelor's degree in Software Development or IT field.
• 4+ years of overall industry experience.
• 3+ years of experience in design, development and testing of web software applications.
• 3+ years of experience with server-side web development stack (e.g. Node.js).
• Very comfortable with Git, GitHub, and collaborative development processes.
• Up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of modern HTML, CSS and JS as well as browser and device compatibility.
• Skilled in HTML/CSS3 and CSS animation.
• Proficiency in HTTP2.0/Web Sockets/SSE.
• Experience with build systems (Gulp), package management (Bower, NPM), source control (GIT).
• Experience consuming/building production-ready fully RESTful web applications.
• Experience with third party API's.
• Experience working in an agile software development environment.
• Familiarity with browser testing and debugging.
