We're reimaging the Rental experience by leveraging industry-leading cloud technologies, Ruby and ReactJS just to name a few and we'd love you to come and help us.

About the role...
The Residential Rent tribe is looking for a Lead Developer to join us and help build the systems and applications that will help drive REA forward on its mission to 'change the way the world experiences property'. We're using Ruby, Rails, ReactJS, microservices, Docker, and AWS to create products and experiences for all parties involved in the Rental journey. You'll be deeply involved in the design and creation of those systems that form that journey, lead a diverse development team that spans two countries while leveraging your wealth of experience to influence the best outcomes for all parties.
What you will be working with:

• A diverse number of programming languages - while most of our systems are written in Ruby and JS/ReactJS, we do also have systems written in JS/NodeJS, Scala and Python and plenty of opportunities to learn from people who are experienced in these languages.
• AWS - all our developers create, support, and monitor infrastructure using Amazon Web Services, with the support of our team's System Engineers to ensure that the right infrastructure is being used in the right way.
• Docker - all our apps are tested and deployed using Docker.
• Microservices & Domain Driven Design - we're just starting our rather large task of breaking down a legacy monolith and replacing it with Ruby microservices.
• Agile - REA is renowned for its agile approach. Teams are given the autonomy to come up with solutions independently in cross-functional teams.

What we expect:

• Approximately 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Experience developing, deploying and delivering software solutions.
• A desire to mentor and guide less experienced members of the team.
• Ideally some experience with Ruby, but at least 4 years experience with at least one object-oriented language such as Java, Python, or C#.
• Experience with Test Driven Design.
• Experience with an Agile delivery team.
• Experience working with a remote delivery team.

Each week we participate in guilds across the company to keep our skills sharp and increase our impact, and in team retrospectives where we keep each other accountable and track how our team is going. Your manager acts as a mentor to help guide you and your career, instead of being someone who monitors your day to day.
