In recent years the IT department has implemented a Shared Service capability moving away from a complete federated model of individual IT units operating within Faculties and Divisions. Now entering its next phase of transformation to position itself as a strategic partner and enabler.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The client runs a large Active Directory SDLC stack, comprising 12 stand-alone AD forests. In addition, they run 10 Microsoft LDS instances, spanned across DEV, TEST, UAT and PROD. They also run ADFS 4.0 across 3 of the AD environments, comprising approximately 60+ RP Trusts. In addition, they host 7 Azure Tenancies syncing from 7 of the 12 AD Forests.
The Identity and Active Directory Team have an exciting and challenging new role for an Active Directory (AD) Engineer, who can assist with the day-to-day, BAU activities and operations, while key resources are assigned to several large-scale projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities for this role include:- Day-to-day management and optimisation of the Identity Stores (currently 26 identity stores) including but not limited to:
- Management of all Active Directory environments.
- Management of all AD LDS environments.
- Management of all Azure Active Directory environments.
- Day-to-day management and optimisation of Federated Services.
- Day-to-day management and optimisation synchronisation services to Azure Active Directory.
- Day-to-day management and optimisation of Role Based Access Controls (RBAC).
- Day-to-day management and optimisation of Delegated Controls.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Preferably Large-Scale, Enterprise AD experience:
- Working in an environment of no less than 10,000+ users.
- Minimum 5 years support and proven troubleshooting of large AD environments.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with AD (and other) Authentication protocols.
- Solid understanding of RBAC concepts and implementations.
- Extensive knowledge of GPO concepts and implementations.
- Solid understanding of delegated access controls.
- Solid LDAP knowledge and experience:
- Preferably experience managing and troubleshooting Microsoft LDS.
- Extensive knowledge and experience implementing and managing LDAPS SAN certificates in both AD and other LDAP environments.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting ADFS implementations:
- Solid understanding of ADFS (preferably ADFS 4.0)
- Solid understanding of SAML; WS-Federation; OAuth; OpenID Connect; etc.
- Solid troubleshooting skills.
- Solid multitasking skills.
- Solid understanding of Networking and Security concepts and technologies.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid documentation skills.
- Self-starter.
- Work without supervision.
