The Opportunity – IT Systems Engineer | Technical Lead

Within Greater Bank’s Information Technology area, an opportunity exists for you to join our expanding team of professional and highly motivated IT Systems Engineer | Technical Lead. Within this position you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of Greater Bank’s 24/7 mission-critical systems and underlying infrastructure, as well as providing third-level support for Greater Bank’s information systems. You will work with a number of enterprise-grade technologies hosted in our highly available datacentres.

What we’re looking for

You will be an experienced professional with a minimum five years’ experience in enterprise level environment, as well as an information technology or computer science diploma/degree or equivalent industry certifications and experience.

In this technology leading role, you will need to be able to work with project managers, developers and the business to provide Technical guidance and enjoy building and managing stakeholder and vendor relationships. You will design, build and integrate and improve infrastructure and cloud solutions to accommodate rapid and increasing growth in business and customer technology demands.

You will possess relevant industry certifications or demonstrable equivalent knowledge (E.g. Windows Server Infrastructure MCSA, MCSE, Virtualisation Platforms, Storage Area Networks) as well as a proven track record in the design, implementation, and support of enterprise-grade information systems and infrastructure.

In addition, to be successful in this role you will need to meet the following skills and experience: 

  • Five years or more experience in IT Technical Operations
  • Two years or more in designing and building enterprise solutions
  • Proven systems support experience in a Wintel and/or Linux environment 
  • Experience working with VMware and/or HyperV virtualised environments
  • Experience with administration and orchestration automation through management tools and scripting
  • Active Directory, Certificate Services, GPO, DNS, SCCM
  • Network Routing and Switching
  • Firewall - various vendor technologies
  • SAN Storage and infrastructure (Fibre Channel and iSCSI)
  • Self-direction and a strong customer focus
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced Industry certifications (E.g. MCSE, CCNP) and ITIL Service Management to foundation level desirable

Experience and skills in the following technologies will be highly regarded however not essential: 

  • IP telephony Cisco CUCM and UCCX experience
  • MS Messaging and Office technologies - MS Exchange, Lync Messaging and Office 365
  • Citrix NetScaler and other network load balancing technologies
  • Authentication and security protocols including Radius and TACACS
  • Backup technologies – Veeam and DPM
