We are looking for a Strategic Planner to undertake a short term contact in Local Government. This position is looking to commence immediately and continue for up to 3 months

Duties & Responsibilities:

• To deliver clear and concise strategic advice to help achieve balanced outcomes in a timely and consultative manner
• Prepare Development Application referral responses
• Represent Council in negotiations with stakeholders
• Provide technical assistance and advice on planning matters to Council Staff, senior management, Council, developers and the community
• Delivery of agreed planning outcomes as identified in Council's Strategic Plan and Strategic Planning Branch work program

Essential Criteria:

• Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, or related discipline
• Strong strategic and creative problems solving skills
• Thorough understanding of relevant legislation including: Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the NSW Local Government Act 1993
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated understanding of new release area planning and associated principles
