Management of Production Studio:
Overseeing incoming orders, production, quality control, managing casual staff, stock management, design concepts and execution, packing and distribution.
Ceramic Design Work: Design, production and delivery of custom ceramic pieces.
Graphics Design Work: Design, delivery and printing of Custom Graphic work for print, web and ceramic application.
Events: Event coordination and production, staff management, graphic design and custom installations for hospitality events, tradeshows and markets.
Main Tasks:
Daily Management of studio including;
Pouring moulds, trimming pieces, hand throwing, glazing, kiln loading and firing procedures, stock management, training and managing casual staff members, studio cleaning and maintenance.
Design work;
Design and testing of concepts and client requests to be produced in porcelain or stoneware clays. This involves conceptual thinking and discussing with owner, technical drawings, costings, mould making, making and firing of test pieces. Presenting work to owner and clients as required. Problem shooting and resolving technical issues, adjusting recipes, formulas and firing schedules as required.
Graphics;
Design and production of graphic material for the business for, but not limited to, marketing material for print and web, event graphics, design of logos and stamps for clients, design and setting out of type and images for decals, liaising with clients and suppliers for these requirements.
Events;
Assistance with design of events including decor, running sheets, design and printing of menus, graphics for marketing, design of/interaction with artists who are creating work for the events. Installation and pack down for dinners, markets, trade shows. Handling sales, orders and enquiries. Represent the business at dinners, events, talks and exhibitions.
Skills and experience:
Tertiary educated in Art and Design
3+ years experience in ceramic production
Experience in management and staff training
Hospitality mangement and floor experience
Graphic, print and web design proficiency
