Detail information about job UX Designer. Terms and conditions vacancy

Officeworks is Australia's leading retailer and supplier of office products for home, business and education and is committed to helping make bigger things happen for our customers every day. As part of the larger Wesfarmers group, Officeworks has an extensive national footprint of more than 166 retail stores and employs more than 7000 team members. We have a strong values platform, which underpins the way we do business, and is focused on our community, the environment and our people.

What you'll do

As a UX Designer, you will play a key role on in creating best in class customer experiences. You'll work with other designers, UX researchers, developers and team members to help craft and guide the experience we deliver to our customers in their search and helping them achieve their big ideas.

Sketches, workflows, storyboards, design workshops, prototypes, wireframes, you'll use whatever creative means necessary to get the job done in communicating the experience. At times, you'll source user feedback yourself, and at others you'll work with our user researchers to get detailed feedback to iterate your designs. Your work doesn't need to be pretty, but your upfront thinking and ability to solve complex problems needs to be stunningly beautiful and easy for stakeholders to understand.

While comfortable working within the constraints of the existing product set, project budgets, business goals, you won't be afraid to challenge the status quo or to raise new ideas as they emerge. We're a strong and close-knit team of passionate designers, we've got a challenging job at times to balance user and business needs, but we enjoy our day and get a kick out of what we do. You will too?

Who would this suit?

Able to play well with others, you're comfortable in collaborative team environments and communicate well with everyone, designers, developers and stakeholders alike. You share, you listen, you absorb, you understand and most importantly you facilitate. You're not precious about your own solutions, and will happily seek multiple sources of feedback to take your designs to the next level. Familiar with User Centred Design (UCD) process and activities, you believe in a design method built around satisfying the needs and motivations of real people. You can demonstrate not only an understanding of UCD activities, UX principles and UX Frameworks but can also show us how you've used them to make your designs the best they can possibly be. We need a few more of the following qualities:

  • A broad thinker, you know global trends and can implement best practice where possible, but you're also able to break out of the box and think differently.
  • You know there isn't one single answer to a design problem and can readily bring three more to the table at short notice.
  • A willingness to lead and be led. You'll be expected to help lift team capability by presenting ways to work differently, while quickly understanding existing strengths of the team, how they complement your own and just how you make the team even stronger.
  • We believe it's not enough to craft a great design for a product; you can also clearly articulate the logic and justification behind the design and how it meets both business and user goals.
  • You're not afraid to stand up and confidently deliver your new design to anyone, at any level of the business. You can also work quickly on the fly with our developers to modify your solutions as new information comes to hand. Adaptability is your friend.
  • You're plugged in to both the local and international UX community and can use this network and knowledge to help you make great decisions on the go.

An interest in psychology, behavioural economics, emerging technology such as like AI, Machine learning, etc is a bonus.
