Operations Officer

CCT is a charity working to minimise the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians through advocacy, raising awareness of cancer prevention and offering support and information for anyone affected by the disease.

 

About the Role and Cancer Support Team:

Cancer Council Tasmania (CCT) is currently seeking the services of an experienced administrator to join its dedicated Cancer Support Services Team in a part time capacity. Working from our beautifully appointed modern facilities in our new Support Centre in Sandy Bay, the incumbent will have the opportunity to work amongst a team of supportive colleagues whilst contributing to the success of this well known, not-for-profit organisation.

The Cancer Support Services staff provide a range of confidential, professional support and information services at no cost to Tasmanians impacted by cancer. Along with other team members, the incumbent of this role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities and operation of the Hobart Cancer Support Centre.

The Operations Officers duties will include (although not be limited to):

  • Support Centre Activities:

  • Provide assistance to the Support team as they plan and implement the activities within the Cancer Support Centre.
  • Help ensure the effective day-to-day operations of the Centre, including overseeing  general housekeeping, maintenance and Support Services program administration.
  • Work with Centre volunteers on a daily basis to support them in their role and duties.
  • Assist Cancer Support staff with recruitment, training, daily supervision and rostering of Centre volunteers.
  • Co-ordinate the organisation of meetings and social functions in collaboration with those CCT staff in attendance.
  • Co-ordinate the CancerSupport Centre advertising materials eg., monthly newsletter, internal newsletter ‘What’s On’.
  • Retail Activities:

  • In conjunction with Finance, oversee the running of retail in the Centre, including serving customers if Centre volunteers are not available, stock taking and setting up the daily till.
  • Overseeing the ordering, receipt and despatch of stock including responsibility for accepting deliveries and checking against orders.
  • Handling all incoming and store room goods in accordance with good manual handling guidelines.
  • Liaising with relevant staff and suppliers for goods not received or incorrectly delivered.
  • Organising despatch of freight.
  • In conjunction with Support Staff, assist with planning and organising work for Centre volunteers to ensure that the Hobart retail outlet is staffed at all times.
  • Coordinate and record regular stocktake activities to ensure adequate stock control of all CCT property associated with retail activities.

To be successful you will have relevant experience in a similar role and be comfortable providing face-to-face support directly to those people accessing our Centre. You will also possess a high standard of administrative skills, with a demonstrated capacity to multi-task in a busy environment.
