Would you like to work in a team environment which facilitates enhancing and supporting the development and delivery of sport and recreation initiatives?

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic & versatile individual to provide leadership and assistance through planning and delivery of sport and recreation projects to the Port Hedland community.

The position will be based in Port Hedland, a town of rich heritage, spectacular landscapes, friendliness, a diverse and embracing community and relaxed lifestyle. As the largest bulk export port in the world, the town is home to global resource leaders and is significant to the national interest. Our vision is ambitious, forward focussed and exciting and we are seeking applications from candidates genuinely interested in tackling the challenges unique to the region and who want to be a part of a team that is making real change in the Pilbara.

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of sport and recreation initiatives, services and projects across the region. A key focus of this role will be developing strategic documents and policies that support the growth of active, connected and inclusive communities within the Town through the planning of recreation, open space and sport facility projects. The preferred applicant should have strong knowledge of emerging industry trends, along with the ability to develop strategic documents and manage key projects.

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Degree qualifications qualification in a relevant discipline such as Sport and Recreation or Urban and Regional Planning and relevant experience in a similar role
  • C Class Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current Working with Children Check
