Large Scale Dairy Farm
Our client is seeking to engage an Assistant Farm Manager to balance the demands of its dairying operations in the Goulburn Valley.
This successful farming operation located on 325 hectares in the Tatura area, is currently milking 500 cows. The business uses leading edge dairy technology, systems and processes to optimise profitability and efficiency in all areas of its business.
About the role
Reporting to the Farm Owner, the position of Assistant Farm Manager will involve the following responsibilities and duties:
- Hands on management of day-to-day farming operations
- Working closely with the owners to ensure the business performs to a high standard.
- Management of staff and supervising work routines
- Growing and allocating grass as per industry best practice
- Achieving quality milk targets and implementing QA protocols
- Updating herd records on computer
- Show an ability to gauge effectiveness of feeding programs in all groups of animals

Skills and experience
The successful person should demonstrate the following characteristics:
- A strong people manager, communicator and motivator
- A problem solver
- At least 5 years experience in the dairy industry
- A team player capable of working both within the team and independently
- Honest, reliable and dependable
- Well developed literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
- Excellent animal husbandry skills
- A proven track record in the industry with recent references
