This peak representative organisation is seeking an experienced Manager for the Livestock commodity to drive key reforms and meet the needs of our members.
About the role
The key focus of this role is the growth and development of the VFF Livestock Group commodity through advocacy on behalf of and services to Livestock sector members and the Victorian farming community. The Livestock Manager with the broader support of the organisation and the Livestock council, manages membership activity including events, campaigns, communications and sponsorship. The incumbent to this position is also responsible for overseeing the operations of the Livestock extension project and ensuring that the project delivers on funding expectations.
Maintaining communication and engagement with Livestock members and industry stakeholders in relation to policy outcomes and positions affecting the Livestock industry is a vital focus of this role. The Livestock Manager works proactively with key stakeholders including industry, lobby groups, politicians, bureaucrats, members and farmers to promote the Commodity and VFF position on issues and policy. This is diverse and challenging role and an exciting opportunity to lead a great team for a candidate passionate about Agriculture and advocacy on behalf of this industry.
Skills and experience
A recognized degree and/or significant industry experience is required. The ideal candidate will have significant knowledge and understanding of the Livestock industry in addition to strong project management and communication skills. Consultation and negotiation skills and the ability to link to Government to undertake projects with initiative, dedication, respect for members and stakeholders are also essential. Strategic planning and policy development skills are also required with the ability to foster strong networks within the agricultural sector and Livestock industry.
