The Organisation
An exciting opportunity has become available to work for Barnardos, one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. Barnardos Australia builds relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their issue.

The Role
Barnardos are looking for a full time, permanent Child and Family Worker – Brighter Futures Program based in Wellington, Western NSW.  Child and Family Caseworkers are responsible, for working with families referred to Brighter Futures Program to provide and/or coordinate services and supports that address child safety concerns and family vulnerabilities.

The Candidate
The successful Child and Family Worker – Brighter Futures Program will have:
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with children and families, preferably within a casework model
  • Demonstrated understanding of Brighter Futures program vulnerabilities, trauma and their impact on parenting capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake trauma informed assessment of family’s strengths and needs and to develop casework and child safety plans using electronic assessment and case management systems ( My Story, E- SCARF)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills- communication skills, time management; networking, referral and relationship building skills
  • Ability to assess, de-escalate and manage where a family is in crisis
  • Ability to facilitate or co-facilitate parenting programs
Barnardos works closely with Aboriginal Partnership Agencies in the community, and would welcome application from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates.

Additional Information 
You must have a current NSW unrestricted drivers license and have a current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one). You must also be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families as required.
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance, current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check

Salary
$63, 192 - $68 997 base (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super. Motor Vehicle packaging is optional.
