This progressive, entrepreneurial nonprofit has long provided niche services that enhance the quality of life for community members with explicit support needs. In this case, this involves a group of Deaf people with additional disabilities.

In this role, you will be leading a team of Disability Support Workers as they deliver timely, high-quality, customer-focused service (Lifestyle Support Services or LSS) to people in the community and in residential accommodation. So, we will be looking at a strong work history where – with minimal supervision - you have proven yourself to be a warm, responsive and responsible people manager.

Accountable for both the wellbeing and the efficacy of your staff, you’ll identify their strengths and work with each Support Worker to offer help and provide coaching, guidance and training as you mentor each individual in all aspects of participant supports, care and safety.

As a role model for your team, you’ll lead from the front, champion adherence to the values, conduct and behaviours that are integral to this reputable organisation. Fully committed to its mission, you will do whatever you are able to build its professional capacity and that of the people you lead.

You will be actively involved in training and professional development activities of varying types with all based on contemporary, best practice, evidence-based principles. So, it is hoped that – in addition to tertiary qualifications in human services –you also bring an up-to-date Cert IV in Training & Assessment and an enthusiasm for teaching, training and sharing your knowledge.

This is a role where you will be dealing with a number of people from different backgrounds and cultures who are hampered by multiple disabilities.

So, it’s vital that you are genuinely understanding and non-judgmental.  With your calm, capable and pragmatic demeanour, colleagues know you as an engaged leader who is customer-centric, tolerant and tactful.

Any knowledge you may have in working with Deaf people with additional disabilities and/or conversational Auslan skills will be extremely welcome.

You will need (or be able to obtain) a current driving licence, motor vehicle, First Aid certificate, Yellow card and Working with Children Blue card.

To be considered for this role, please forward your cover letter and resume in WORD format quoting reference number NMTLLS to [email protected] or contact Nicola Manson on 07 3211 0001.
