About the role

We are currently seeking a casual Family Contact Worker to work across a 7 day roster.

This position will require you to do regular travel throughout our Western region and will be based at Forbes/Parkes.

As a Family Contact Worker you will have a positive attitude, the enterprise to work alone, the wisdom to ask for help, the resourcefulness to handle competing priorities and the ability to be proficient in time management. Have an understanding of the stakeholders and the community services in Parkes/Forbes to be able to engage for the Children and Young People we support.

Your verbal communication skills will be outstanding as you liaise with Case Managers, Carers and Natural Parents to facilitate and carry out supervised contacts. You will be expected to be able to extend on your communication skills through written reports documenting resound detail for the Children and Young People following policy and procedure of the organisation and our responsibilities under the Child Care and Protection Act. Above all, you are someone who respects professional boundaries and holds the safety of Children and Young People paramount to your values.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Current driver's licence
  • Current First aid certificate or willing to obtain one
  • Valid NSW Working with Children check
  • Cert 3 or 4 in Youth work, Welfare or Community Services or relevant certificates (preferred, not essential)
  • Sound practice and knowledge or significant experience in meeting the holistic needs of Children and Young People
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other services
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening, night and sleep over shifts - (in emergency situations)
  • Experience working with Children and Young People who have complex trauma backgrounds
  • Experience working with Children and Young People who display difficult or challenging behaviours
