Hallis’ specialist Not for Profit team is delighted to be working exclusively with the Benevolent Society in the recruitment of their Partners in Community teams for the rollout of the NDIA’s Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) service. These teams will cover multiple locations across Brisbane North/South, Beenleigh/ Logan (including Redlands) from July 2018 and Caboolture/ Strathpine from 1 January 2019.
 
The Opportunity:
 
The ECEI approach supports families to help children, aged 0-6 who have a developmental delay or disability, to develop the skills they need to take part in daily activities and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life. The Benevolent Society’s ECEI teams will provide a family centred approach that supports greater inclusion in mainstream settings and builds the capacity of a child and their family.
 
As Team Leader, reporting to the Manager, your demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams will be highly regarded and pivotal to the success of this partnership. Specific experience and a deep understanding of the NDIS and ECEI, will be set you apart and provide a strong basis for your team’s delivery of this service.
 
Your team will provide early intervention services and assessments for children with a development delay and/or disability and their families. Leading a team of other professionals, such as Child Development Specialists, Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists, you will work collaboratively to ensure they undertake and document assessments, provide short-term early intervention therapies, identify strengths, promote positive family relationships, and develop individualised support plans for on-boarding to the NDIS as appropriate.
 
In this pivotal role your demonstrated ability to lead a team responsible for working closely with children who have developmental delay and/or disability and their families to meet positive, outcome focused goals and milestones will be highly regarded. This role represents a unique opportunity to have a genuine impact on the lives of the children and families you will work with.
 
You will need:
 
  • Recognised qualifications and experience in paediatric service delivery.  This might include: Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nursing or relevant Health or Human Service qualifications.
  • Experience in leading a team to ensure that services can be provided in a way that maximises outcomes and meets organisational, portfolio, service, funding and external compliance objectives
  • A deep understanding of the NDIS and existing knowledge and stakeholder relationships with the Agency and relevant Government departments will be highly regarded.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulations Agency (AHPRA) (if relevant).
  • Proven practice experience leading a team within an early childhood early intervention framework.
  • High levels of verbal communication and strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Proven ability to provide supervision and mentoring to a multi-disciplinary team, adding strong organisational and leadership skills and supporting the team as a whole to achieve outcomes and contractual obligations. 
  • The proven ability to establish meaningful relationships with young children and their families.
  • Ability to assess circumstances from multiple views and understand underlying agendas.
  • Ability to translate complex theories in an easily understood, practical way.
  • Experience in coaching, advising and providing on the job support to team members to improve their skills and knowledge in the areas of this service improve outcomes.
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to early intervention as a strategy to optimise child outcomes.
  • Experience leading a team focused on delivering evidence-based programs and therapies to optimise child development, health and learning.
  • The ability to support and develop team members to understand the vision, values and direction of the organisation and translate them so the team understands how they relate to their everyday practice.
  • To evaluate the quality of service delivery, outcomes against service, funding and compliance objectives on a regular basis. Identify gaps in delivery and work with the team to build capability and/or improve service design, referring to the Manager when significant gaps are identified.
  • To work collaboratively with staff across the organisation and with the community and develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with relevant community partners, referral agencies, and relevant community groups, including attending networking meetings and forums where requested by the Manager.
  • Demonstrated understanding of (and experience working with) contemporary theoretical and practice frameworks in area of service delivery.
  • A collaborative work approach and team orientation. 
  • To comply with mandatory reporting requirements that apply to the service, in conjunction with the Manager.
  • An excellent understanding of child protection issues and potential vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development.
  • A current driver’s license, Positive Notice from Disability Services and Blue Card.

Remuneration: base salary + super+ salary packaging
