About the Role

An exciting and unique opportunity to lead and administer secretariat functions for the Australian Parliamentary Group on Population and Development (APGPD). The role supports policy agenda around sexual and reproductive health and rights and other relevant issues of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The position is responsible for coordinating CARE Australia’s advocacy and government relations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide and/or oversee secretariat and administrative support services to the APGPD
  • Develop and support alliances and networks with relevant agencies in support of CARE’s advocacy goals
  • Develop and maintain a good relationship with the APGPD Executive Committee and other members
  • Coordinate advocacy initiatives in CARE Australia priority areas
  • To advance relevant advocacy policies and initiatives in accordance with agreed strategic directions
  • Develop and execute advocacy plans and messages in coordination with relevant departments in CARE Australia

Ideally you will have

  • Experience in developing campaign and strategic communications materials (physical and digital)
  • Demonstrated high-level initiative, judgement, leadership ability and personal drive, and a record of innovation and achievement
  • Knowledge of international development and global gender equality issues and a commitment to gender equality and sexual and reproductive rights
  • A strong understanding of parliamentary and political processes in Australia
  • Demonstrated excellent representational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
