This position is for one full time employee to be working over two roles. We are looking for someone experienced in both family and relationships counselling and social work for parents and families accessing Post Separation. Relationships Australia SA (RASA) is a dynamic community services organisation that delivers a broad range of programs and services. 

  

Role 1

The Counsellor provides individual, couple and family counselling to assist people to resolve difficulties and build stronger relationships. Family and Relationships Counselling involves working with all family members including children, and is primarily accountable to the safety and best interest of children. 

Role 2

The Case Worker (Post Separation) provides services to parents and families who are accessing services within the Post Separation area of the Riverland Office with the aim of helping parents manage the stress of separation and conflict. The primary purpose is to support families to create child focused, and workable, parenting arrangements following separation. 

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (AQF Level 7) in Early Childhood, Social Science, Human Servies, Psychology, Health or Nursing OR a Certificate (AQF Level 4) or Diploma (AQF Level 5) in Counselling, Case Management, Youth Work, Mental Health and/or significant relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals, couples or families in a therapeutic context.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing counselling to those effected by Family and Domestic Violence including children and those using violence relationships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the family violence behaviour change process.
  • Experience working with complex client matters.
  • Experience in trauma informed practice.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant training in Child Inclusive Mediation.
  • A DCSI - Child Related Employment Screening Clearance is essential and employment is not able to commence without a current clearance.

Desirable:

  • Extensive experience working with families in conflict and following separation.
  • Experience working with children who are experiencing parental separation or conflict.
  • Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution (AQF Level 8)
  • A post graduate (AQF level 9) qualification in social work, psychology or counselling.
