ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Field Officer role is critical to KGT’s business, it helps secure and recruit apprentices and trainees and oversee their employment and training to ensure their progress is monitored and documented correctly.

Conducting regular pastoral site visits and ongoing contact with host employers to ensure that training requirements are met, academic studies are completed and adequate instruction on trade and other studies.

Similarly to recruit, place and manage VTEC and Labour Hire participants as well as other programs that may emerge from time to time as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø  Promoting and securing recruitment of apprentices, trainees and host employers.

Ø  Provide advice and assistance to employers and other stakeholders involved in the Traineeship, Apprenticeship or employment period.

Ø  Conducting site visits for the purpose of monitoring and recording information related to participants progress.

Ø  Mentoring and coaching both participants and employers to ensure smooth transition and ongoing employment.

Ø  Liaising and assisting employers and participants in understanding the requirements and processes for the completion of “on-the-job” training.

Ø  Data entry reporting and operating participant databases i.e. Job Ready (JR)

Ø  Documenting and providing feedback to the relevant Manager related to issues that might hinder the progress and success of trainees and apprentices completion.  

Ø  To assist and be involved in meetings with stakeholders involved in contracts to resolve disputes through a process of conciliation.

Ø  Accepting and mentoring indigenous culture and communities.

Ø  To provide support services including transport to participants as required.

Ø  Working within a team environment, coordination and sharing of information related to apprentices and trainees.

Ø  To assist the other Field Officer’s in other duties as required.

Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate highly developed skills against the following criteria:

ESSENTIAL:

  1. A demonstrated knowledge of training, apprenticeship traineeship employment   placement.
  2. A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal Culture.
  3. A sound knowledge and sensitivity of current issues affecting Aboriginal people.
  4. Knowledge of Government policies and programs in regard to education and training.
  5. Communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to mentor participants
  7. Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare, Equal Employment Opportunities
  8. “C” Class Drivers Licence.
  9. Willingness to travel as required.
  10. Obtain a ‘successful’ Working with Children Card and a National Police Certificate

DESIRABLE:

  1. Previous group training company experience.
  2. A Workplace Trainer / Assessor qualification.
