Who is HarbisonCare?
HarbisonCare is a registered charity owned by the community of the Southern Highlands. Our organisation was founded by a group of volunteers in the late 1950s to provide local, independent, high quality care and accommodation for the aged and disabled in the Southern Highlands and surrounding areas.
Today we provide general and specialised care across a range of settings and are one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands. We exist to support and nurture older people to maintain meaning and purpose in their unique lives.
What is the Role?
We are currently seeking a Recreational Activities Officer (RAO) to join our team.
As an RAO, you will be responsible for:
- Understanding each person and recognising their unique background
- Providing emotional support to all customers
- Orientating and assessing residents to develop appropriate activity care plans tailored to their individual needs
- Organising and facilitating a wide variety of physical, social, spiritual and mentally stimulating activities using the "person centred approach"
- Ensuring the customers rights, dignity and confidentiality is always upheld
- Working with employees and customers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

Ideally, you will hold a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health and experience in the Aged Care sector, however this is not essential. The primary characteristics we are seeking are a strong focus on customer service and a can do attitude. We would be happy to support individuals who demonstrate the right attitude and approach in obtaining the relevant qualifications
