Community Housing Officer - Support & Development

About the role:

Due to our growing portfolio we have introduced this role to manage our direct tenancies and to also provide support, education and training services to our member organisations. Another Community Housing Officer will focus on asset management and compliance.

The key components of the role are:

  • Develop member organisation training and development plans including – new member induction program and handbook, training plans and support to encourage participation and co-operation amongst members and member organisations
  • Undertake a range of tenancy and property management tasks such as tenancy sign ups, inspections, filling direct vacancies, etc.
  • Maintain an accurate property and tenancy database
  • Ensure compliance with both organisational policy and procedure and relevant legislation
  • Liaise with government departments, peak bodies, members and support agencies etc.

We are looking for:

  • An enthusiastic individual with a passion for community housing, supporting tenants and housing co-ops; - essential
  • Demonstrated ability to nurture and build positive relationships - essential
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills – essential
  • Proven ability to contribute and work collaboratively as a team – essential
  • Demonstrated ability with dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour – essential
  • Proficient use of property management/tenancy systems and understanding of the relevant legislation - desirable

You will need to:

  • Complete the five questions below
  • Complete a Police Check
  • Undergo pre-employment testing as part of the recruitment process
  • Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
