OAMS - The Orange Aboriginal Medical Service is a not-for profit practice committed to making a difference to the health of Aboriginal families and the wider Community of Central Western NSW.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities and gives people more choice and control over how, when and where those supports are provided.
We employ over 50 staff, and provide a range of services to the community such as GP's, Podiatry, Psychology, Colposcopy, Dental, Eye Clinics, Hearing Clinics, Psychiatry, Diabetes, Chronic Care, Child & Family Health, Midwifery and Out of Home Care Health pathways. About the role
OAMS is looking for a male support worker. The NDIS support Worker will be responsible for a broad range of supports for participants enhancing independence and quality of life of our customers including assisting and encouraging personal care needs - this may include oral hygiene and other personal hygiene needs, assisting with cooking, food preparation and meal planning and general life skills.
Duties may also include providing transport to medical appointments, social engagements, shopping (including assisting with shopping) and other outings as required.

Skills and experience
- KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability Care or Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
- Genuine desire to provide the best quality support for people with disabilities.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop collaborative relationships and networks between clients, their families, community agencies and other professionals .
- Reliable character and an ability to work in a very busy environment and to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality issues.
- Availability of a fully registered and comprehensively insured vehicle.
- A caring and compassionate approach with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently, whilst enjoying a degree of responsibility in your position.
- Ability to be flexible in work hours and approach to meet the needs of our customers.
- Experience in the use of technology such as smart phones and computer programs.
- Able to maintain accurate, professionally appropriate and current records and written reports.
- Strong time management and organisational skills and proven capacity to prioritise work commitments.
- Hold a valid drivers licence and own vehicle.
