Tjuwanpa is an Aboriginal Corporation which delivers the Community Development Programme (CDP) in the West Alice Region. Tjuwanpa is situated 130kms south west of Alice Springs and has a service delivery area from Jay Creek to Kings Canyon. We are seeking applications for the role of Engagement Worker which is based at Tjuwanpa Resource Centre, Hermannsburg.

The Position:

This role will require the applicant to be able to facilitate engagement focused activities incorporating sport, life skills, community improvement and culture-based activities using various resources within Tjuwanpa Resource Centre which includes an Art Centre, Commercial Kitchen, Horticulture centre, Training Room, Workshop and Music Centre to build a unique and flexible program. You will also be expected to work with community stakeholders and existing programs within the region.

Key Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Planning, organising and supervising activities
  • Accurate record keeping of attendance and follow up of non-attendance
  • Booking and organising relevant resources
  • Liaising with case managers to ensure participants receive a complete CDP service
  • Establish and maintain inter-agency relationships
  • Ensure activities are conducted in line with WHS and CDP guidelines

To be successful in this role you would need:

  • Experience in the youth/community sector and a demonstrated ability to engage with people.
  • Aware of the issues that impact engagement in a remote community.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills with a wide range of ages and backgrounds
  • Experience in developing and maintaining positive relationships with other organisations
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexibly, resourcefully and adapt to circumstances outside of organisation control
  • Be able to work outside normal working hours
  • Must have a full NT driver’s licence minimum and ability to obtain LR licence
  • Must have a current Working with Children Clearance or willingness to obtain
  • Additional vocational skills and expertise may be an advantage, please include any interests and past experiences that may be relevant.
