Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) is the peak body for people with lived experience of mental health issues in WA.  As a values-driven peer-led organization, we strengthen and advance the voice, leadership and expertise of people with lived experience of mental health issues.

 

About the role

We are seeking a Peer Coordinator to conduct an innovative pilot program that will grow individual capacity of people with lived experience of mental health issues to navigate, engage and connect with services.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist people to navigate, chose and engage with services for their recovery and wellbeing.
  • Work in partnership with stakeholders, and in accordance with the persons wishes, to support and individuals preferences, rights and choices.
  • Connect and build rapport with individuals who may otherwise face barriers to engaging services and support.

To be successful

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery.
  • Demonstrated team work, relationship building and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and assertive communication skills with a strong consumer focus.
  • Skills relevant to assisting people to overcome life challenges.
  • Skills in respecting, supporting and assisting individuals to achieve their personal choices.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
