About the Company

We have partnered with a large, long standing, not for profit disability organisation which provides a variety of high quality services across all of Victoria. The organisation has had growth its health and well being team and is now looking to expand for a new ECEI Key Worker. The ECEI Key Worker role is designed to help children with disabilities aged from 0-6 access services through the NDIS.

Covering the South East Melbourne region, the service will partner will connect with the specialist services in the community to enable and assist eligible participant’s access suitable services. This will be best identified through the development of individualised plans, with the aim of helping children in their general development and future quality of life both in the short and long term developmental stages.

The aim of the team is to help provide families and carers with the knowledge, understanding and independence to access supports that will help with their child development, independence and inclusion into early education, schooling and general community involvement.

About the Role.

The position will involve working with a person and family centred approach, to assess eligibility for NDIS funding and then to create individualised plans based on the specific needs of each person. The role will involve consultation and assessment of each participant and work towards the successful implementation of each plan through a Key Worker approach.

You will work as part of a larger transdisciplinary team to promote awareness of how the ECEI service will help support children with various disabilities in their day to day life. This will involve liaising with families and key stakeholders, specialist ECEI service providers, as well as mainstream services such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and other therapeutic providers. All of this from initial intake right through to implementation.

You will make evidence based assessments and take a person and/ or family centred approach to help coordinate access to these services. You will act as the first point of contact for these families during initial or ongoing ECEI stages. Your knowledge of early intervention and early childhood development will ensure seamless transitions from early years, through schooling stages and beyond.

Day to Day Duties

Day to day duties will include:

  • Manage clinical caseloads utilising person/ family centred frameworks
  • Provide guidance, information, education and training through specialist therapies in a transdisciplinary approach to promote greater independence
  • Create and review individual care and treatment plans for both short and long term
  • Manage multiple caseloads
  • Work with a large network of clients and local health specialists
  • Working to strict policy and procedures

Selection Criteria

  • Full qualification and professional registration with no practice limitations in either Psychology, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist fields
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in early childhood, disability or family services
  • Ability to engage clients from a range of backgrounds
  • Strong understanding of ASD/ DD or other disabilities that can affect child and family development
  • Previous experience and understanding of the NDIS
  • An empathic and approachable demeanour
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Eligibility to work and live in Australia
  • Current drivers licence
  • Current Working with Children Check
