We are seeking 2 Teachers for two Science/Math teaching positions at a fantastic College located approximately 150km North-West of Townsville.
Start date: Around the 16-19 July 2018 - this would be a 6 month contract, with the view of extending into 2019.
The School, the position and YOU
This is a wonderfully unique school that offers a very rewarding teaching experience. It is the only all boy's rural agricultural boarding school in North Queensland and is a Catholic 100% boarding school. With only 200 students, it caters for students from the surrounding communities, as well as students from overseas, in Papua New Guinea.
The school is situated on 100 hectares and boasts a unique rural environment that is relaxed and free from city pressures. It has excellent facilities and is well-resourced.
The school requires two teachers for the areas of Science and Mathematics. The school welcomes candidates with either Primary or Secondary teaching qualifications. You would be required to teach between Year 7-10 Science and Mathematics, but the learning levels of students will be at Primary level. Being a rural school, teachers may also be required to teach another subject area, so a willingness to teach outside of these two subjects is essential.
You will be a teacher who has a strong interest in Indigenous Education and Boys Education. You will be a team player and will be strong at developing positive relationships with students, colleagues and families. You will be willing to support the values of a Catholic School community.
Selection Criteria
- Fully qualified teacher (Queensland teaching registration required) with a minimum of, either, a Bachelor of Primary Education or Secondary Education;
- Strong interest in Indigenous Education;
- Strong interest in Boys' Education;
- Willing to support the ethos of a Catholic school community;
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff at all levels;
- Flexible and adaptable
- Excellent communicator
