The Griffith School of Engineering and Built Environment is a newly formed school in Griffith University and builds on two decades of provision of tertiary qualifications facilitating entry to the Engineering profession. The School is known for its innovative and student focused teaching approaches and for its strong industry relationships. The School currently teaches over 2500 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in several disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Design, Aviation and Architecture.

The School works in collaboration with the Critical Care Research Group's Innovative Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology Laboratory (ICETLAB - www.icetlab.com) located at The Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside, Brisbane, Australia. The ICETLAB was founded in 2007 and over the 10+ years of its existence, the group has produced over 50 peer-reviewed publications and has been awarded over $10m of competitive grant funding. The ICETLAB has grown continuously and now houses now around 20 full- or part-time researchers of postdoctoral, PhD, Masters, or undergraduate levels with expertise ranging from medical, mechanical and electrical engineering, basic science and manufacturing. The ICETLAB is a big part of the first ever international NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Advanced Cardio-respiratory Therapies Improving OrgaN Support (ACTIONS) and the group published the first ever collaborative textbook of mechanical circulatory and respiratory support. In both projects, the ICETLAB collaborated with other national and international researchers in the field of mechanical circulatory and respiratory support.

The opportunity
We are currently looking for a Technical Director, ICETLAB who will provide leadership of the Lab's research projects. This is an academic position and the incumbent will conduct high quality research that contributes to the research objectives of the ICET Lab, Griffith University and ACTIONS Centre of Research Excellence. The Technical Director will seek consultancy, contract and research opportunities through industry and external organisations, and promote wider collaborations within the hospital, with universities, and within the ICET Lab and Critical Care Research Group.

This is a fixed term (to 30 November 2019), full time position based at the Prince Charles Hospital, with travel to the University's campuses as required.

About you
To be successful within this role, you will have a relevant PhD and the ability to provide leadership of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaborative projects. You will have a well established track record of high impact research and experience in developing research funding proposals and report production. Your excellent organisational and negotiation skills will enable you to effectively manage the lab and proactively identify opportunities for strategic partnerships.

Salary range
Senior Research Fellow: $113,326 - $130,675 per annum plus superannuation.
