The School
Renowned for its innovation in self‑directed learning and technology, this school offers learning opportunities that vary from traditional classrooms to video conferencing and online resources. The school has approximately 140 students, and offers a supportive and engaging work environment across three campuses in Tasmania (Hobart, Launceston and Devonport). This position is based at the Launceston Campus.

The Role
Reporting directly to the District Principal, the Director of Studies is a member of the Senior Educational Leadership Team and will directly support the District Principal in the leadership and management of all aspects of the curriculum and academic program for the school.

This role has a close partnership with the Heads of Campus and Teachers across three campuses and oversees all academic support initiatives for both staff and students.

This role will also encompass an e-learning aspect where the incumbent will be required to provide leadership around pedagogy in the use of our key digital platforms to deliver a quality teaching and learning experience.

  • Curriculum Development and Implementation:
  • Overview of all academic and teaching programs across Years 7-12
  • Coordination of the TCE - including documentation, procedures, reporting requirements and liaison with relevant departmental and/or organisational bodies
  • Preparation and maintenance of the school timetable for years 3-12, in partnership with the respective support/administrative staff
  • Oversight of the allocation of staff to classes, in consultation with Heads of Campus, District Principal and HR
  • Oversight of school assessment programs in consultation with Teachers, Heads of Campus, Head of Primary, and District Principal
  • Proactive articulation and support for Self-Directed Learning

The Ideal Candidate

  • Possesses the relevant teaching qualifications for Tasmania (or the willingness to obtain)
  • Previous experience in a leadership position (previous director level experience not required)
  • Excellent understanding of the Australian Curriculum and or TCE
  • Exhibits diligence and commitment to all aspects of employment including areas such as professional presentation and behaviour, self‐assessment, observing confidentiality expectations, approach to and completion of tasks within required timeframes
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching with current pedagogy including 1-1 eLearning
  • Personal qualities such as confidence, flexibility, initiative, loyalty, perseverance and resourcefulness necessary to contribute to a learning community which values teamwork and teacher leadership
