About Us

The New South Wales Teachers Federation is the registered trade union representing NSW public school teachers in pre-schools, infants, primary and secondary schools and TAFE Institutes. The NSW Teachers Federation looks after a multiplicity of issues on behalf of teachers. It also regards public education as a strong foundation for a sure future. Thus, it campaigns for betterments for all students who attend public schools so that they will receive a quality education.

About the Role

The Training Unit Section Coordinator supports the organisation by planning, directing and coordinating all training and travel operations to ensure improved performance, productivity, efficiency and sustainability through the implementation of effective operational methods and strategies.

The Position has responsility for a small team of staff that provide administrative support in the delivery of 130+ Trade Union training conferences, courses and seminars annually, including administering various internal programs focused on teacher activists. Additionally the role has responsibility for across organisation travel including the negation on annual contracts and leases.

About You

To be considered you will need to clearly demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualification in a Business discipline or equivalent work experience

• Previous experience/exposure to a similar industry environment or knowledge of practices/procedures of a Training and/or Travel industry

• Experience in managing and using travel and or training management software and processes

• Demonstrated experience in the supervision of staff in an administration capacity

• Computer skills, including database and website management experience, at a minimum of MS Office advanced level

• Proven high level of listening, oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, drafting correspondence and report writing

• High level planning and organisational skills, ability to work in high pressure situations

• High level analytical and problem solving skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong customer service skills

• The ability to gain knowledge of the organisation, its services and objectives

• Respect for sensitivity and confidentiality of issues handled

• Positive attitude to unionism

• Awareness of WHS policies and procedures
