We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate or a Research Fellow to contribute to an ARC funded project within our Centre for Public History.

About the Role
Led by Emeritus Professor Lesley Johnson, the project aims to understand how institutions shaped and made possible the humanities as a field of knowledge-making in Australia. It will focus on the history of universities, libraries and learned academies since the Second World War to explore the changing ways in which these institutions have shaped the humanities.

In this role you will:
• undertake archival work in Sydney and interstate
• develop effective e-research systems to organise the empirical material collected for the project as a whole
• produce high quality papers for publication, contribute to a book manuscript and participate in and present papers at academic conferences
• administration associated with the ARC program of research, including managing finances and reporting requirements for the project
• liaise with members of other centres undertaking research related to the ARC project - in Australia and internationally
• participate in the research activities of the Australian Centre for Public History at UTS

About You
An experienced and independent researcher, you will have sound knowledge of archival and qualitative historical research methods.

You will also bring to this role:
• PhD in Australian history and/or cultural studies or other relevant fields
• Knowledge and experience in e-research techniques for the organisation and presentation of research material collected
• Knowledge of Australian history and universities
• Experience in working on the history of Australian universities and/or public libraries or related topics
• Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct research independently and to work as part of a research team.

Previous experience with the development of a research-oriented web site and the presentation of research through social media would be highly regarded.

Remuneration

Base Salary Range:
• Academic Level A: $86,947 - $93,330 p.a.
• Academic Level B:  $101,932 - $116,641 p.a.  

This role attracts  17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time  and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 18 months.
