About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Manager, Research Data Operations in the Research Portfolio DVC Research, the main purpose of the position is to ensure University of Sydney academics are represented correctly by carrying out data governance, checking and cleansing activities in the University’s research management system, IRMA (Integrated Research Management Application) and the Research Performance DB, collecting and monitoring data as it relates to researchers and universities worldwide.


As part of the RRADS team you will also provide support for data manipulation, cleansing and management of information systems data within the office, across all the reportable data held in IRMA and associated reporting databases, specifically in connection with internal reporting of research performance metrics.

  • experience working with enterprise systems and database packages
  • excellent analytical, problem solving and numeracy skills
  • proven experience in a position requiring high attention to detail
  • excellent skills in MS Excel
  • detailed knowledge of data manipulation techniques to ensure data consistency
  • knowledge of statistical programming languages (preferably)

The position will be located within the RRADS group, one of six groups within the Research Portfolio that currently support the DVCR and researchers to achieve the University’s goals. The RRADS group is responsible for providing university wide reports and strategic information on research and research performance, managing government required reporting programs (ERA, Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC), SRE), managing data acquisition, coordinating application and system development to support business processes and requirements by developing and managing the data collection, analysing and reporting of the University’s research performance, including external obligations and internal absolute research performance reporting for the faculty funding model, and coordinating development of business systems to support business requirements.
