About E2Language

E2Language is a Melbourne-based company that has built a purpose-built, innovative platform to teach aspiring migrants and university applicants the skills needed to pass government-approved English proficiency tests including IELTS, PTE-A, OET and TOEFL.  We are the first and only online language school to be quality assured by NEAS, the Australian ELT accrediting body, and we are also partnered with Cambridge-Box Hill on their OET as well as Pearson on their PTE-A. To date, E2Language is the fastest growing provider of online English test preparation, with a rapidly-growing community of 200,000 users, including 80,000 Australian-based migrants. Our mission is to improve every individual's English language abilities to help them pass their tests, but also to contribute to a greater social good by clarifying language.

Who we're looking for

Because we're, ah, dynamic, certainly diverse and most definitely unconventional, we're looking for someone with a lofty soul and a genuine interest in and appreciation of applied linguistics. I'm afraid that if you're a run-of-the-mill English teacher without a much of an interest in subject-verb agreement then this job won't be for you as you'll need to cut it from the get go. If you are creative, flexible, intelligent and looking to get away from the daily ELT grind to express yourself more fully and explore the new world of cutting-edge teaching and learning pedagogy and learning technologies (and the mystical world of the perfect multiple-choice question), then this job might be for you!

What you'll do at E2

  • Write test items (PTEA & IELTS specifically – maybe others in time)
  • Help write an online EAP course
  • Help digitise the EAP course using our platform authoring tools
  • Write (and maybe present some) webinars (what we call 'live mock tests')
  • Manage curricula
  • Write and edit blog articles on a variety of test-preparation and English language topics
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to create courses according to business strategy
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and implement continuous improvement
  • Work with a fabulously interesting and driven team

Benefits and perks

While we would prefer someone to work 'in house' at our offices in South Yarra, we are open to a long-distance working relationship as long as we can be certain than you manage your own time and meet targets autonomously.

You must have

  • A specialist degree or degrees in languages, linguistics, TESOL etc.
  • English test preparation teaching experience (one of the 'big four', IELTS, PTEA, TOEFL or OET).
  • English item writing experience (Cambridge suite, the 'big four' or other such courses/items).
  • Microsoft Office know-how (and Google Drive, perhaps?)

You must be

  • A native English speaker or equivalent
  • Open to learning new technologies (nothing too sophisticated)
  • Conscientious and preferably a little OCD
  • Proud of what you do
