About the Opportunity

Council is looking for a Children’s Services Trainee to be part of a professional Education and Care team. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, be passionate about working closely with other educators, children and families as well as the community to ensure the delivery of a quality education and care service, in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations.

Traineeships involve gaining a recognised qualification while you earn money and gain on-the-job experience. You will be required to undertake formal training via correspondence with a Registered Training Organisation. The traineeship would be undertaken in the Certificate IV in School Aged Education and Care. The position is for a fixed term period of 12 months. To be eligible you cannot have completed a Certificate IV or higher qualification.

Council fully supports the aims and objectives of NSW Child Protection Legislation, and associated provisions, and will implement all necessary measures to ensure a safe and supporting Council environment, which endeavours to promote child safe child friendly practices. It is essential for applicants to submit their WWCC number with their application. It is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.

Salary: Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 1 of Council’s salary structure with a salary range of $24.12 - $27.07 per hour. Rostered between 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 25 hours per week. Commencement salary will depend upon qualifications, experience and competencies.
