Job Details

We are in need of workers who have experience using various hand tools, and who have a general understanding of audio & visual equipment. Experience in working with LED processes will be a great benefit. 

Education/Qualifications:

  • High school certificate or equivalent
  • Manufacturing technology, engineering technology, computer science, or other specialized training (recommended, but not necessary)

Experience:

  • Manual dexterity - extensive knowledge in handling both hand and power tools
  • Basic electrical understanding 
  • A/V understanding 
  • Computer literate - basic IT and computer software understanding (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email etc.)

Skills:

  • Developed skills and clarity in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to read technical schematics 
  • Fine eye for detail 
  • Ability to forecast, discuss and/or resolve problems that are occurring 
  • Work comfortably with minimal supervision
  • Patience to complete repetitive jobs 
  • Punctual & respectable

Job Tasks

This job will require on-the-job training for a limited period with one of our Simtech specialists. However, once the training and induction process is completed, the job tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Reading technical schematics to become familiar with the construction process
    • For example: job sheets, specification sheets and artwork 
  • Carefully follow instructions on technical sheets or received by supervisor/staff member 
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards 
  • Always use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Responsibly and cautiously use tools and machinery when needed; including but not limited to:
    • Power tools
    • Hand tools
    • Soldering irons 
    • Air compressors
    • Hot glue guns
    • Belt sander 
    • Vacuum
    • Knives 
    • Wire cutters/strippers
  • Maintaining, handling and moving objects and equipment
    • Using whole body techniques in handling, installing, positioning, and moving equipment as well as checking for safety hazards
  • Accurately measure and cut lengths of material
  • Explain and enforce safety rules where needed
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with all staff
  • Follow company policy and procedures at all times 
  • Assist and care for others when needed
    • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to staff
  • Responsible for personal occupational health and safety 

Note:

  • Occasionally workers may be requested to perform installation work locally or inter-state, in which the same job tasks still apply
    • This may require working outside of regular hours

 

A probation period is required as standard for every Simtech employee, however a full-time opportunity may arise in the future.
