About the role
Reporting to the Group GM Operations, this position has come about due to an internal promotion.
A Lean operating environment, you will manage a team of 5 direct and 80+ indirect reports. Your mandate is a case study in strong, progressive transformation leadership and achieving elevated performance benchmarks.
You will forge strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including peer level national operations managers; process improvement engineers ; union reps; suppliers and contractors; and local councils / government.
The overarching purpose of the role is to :
- Complete implementation of SHE Standards and initiatives
- Comply with all legislative requirements for safety and the environment
- Ensure proactive IPI activities
- Continuously improve TRFR
- Continuously improve housekeeping standards
- Ongoing review and reduction of towns water and energy (electricity and gas) consumption
- Identify and implement opportunities to recycle all waste streams, particularly product waste back into the process to offset raw material usage
- Drive opportunity for Improvement Program to offset cost curve
With a focus on safety, and responsibility for all aspects Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality & Materials, key outperform measures include:
- Productivity
- OEE
- Final pass reject rate
- Budget and S&OP production plans
- PM best practice methodology
- Achieve an ATP of 95% or better
- ITA performance
- Timely delivery of products to the warehouse
- Factory variance
- OIP initiatives implemented and targets met
- Standard costs for all product groups
- Capital Expenditure justified and delivered on time and on budget
- Working Capital minimisation

Skills and experience
Ideal skills, experience and qualifications will include:
- Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
- Background in Continuous Improvement
- 'Glass half full' attitude,sense of humor, grit & resilience
- Strong influencing and cultural change skills
- Ability to develop and effectively manage large budgets
- People management and influencing skills
- Sound financial and planning skills
- Microsoft Office and SAP literate
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a large scale manufacturing environment
- Minimum 3 years' experience in operations management
