We are currently seeking a Production Controller. 

The role of the Production Controller is integral in managing the following:

  • Implement and support a date driven workshop planning process which will withstand changes and fluctuations in a diverse business whilst maintaining a culture of date driven systemised production control, supported by SAP
  • Oversee the control of capacity plans and workshop schedules to meet the business plan incorporating manning levels and capacity demands
  • Provide direction on process improvement to increase production velocity whilst continually challenging the traditional planning methods by seeking out new simple and effective procedures
  • Act as coach and mentor to train Production Planners, particularly in date management and computerised planning systems
  • Co-ordinate of a diverse range of parts and services to support the manufacturing process from store to shop
  • Work with Supply on the best practice of “make-verses-buy” decisions and load sharing across plants and vendors
  • Introduce processes and controls that limit the amount of credits and dropped reservations to acceptable levels
  • Co-ordinate the interaction of Production control with the PEM process, ensuring clean and concise handovers to production control.
  • Support and monitor a process that provides a timely, practical schedule to the shop floor, with the associated goods and services aligned to match
  • Run Production Meetings and maintain high focus on achieving milestones and delivery, ensuring meetings are recorded
  • Maintain compliance with current OP’s
  • Where there is no project manager assigned, it is expected that the project manager responsibilities are assumed.
  • Provide the workshop management with accurate scheduling and capacity plans to allow the best utilisation of labour and facility resources.
  • Manage unplanned workloads placed upon the workshops.

The major responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Adhere to all legislative requirements, as well as Komatsu's policies and procedures around Health and Safety and promote these with team members, customers and vendors  
  • Understand customer demand fluctuations  and the impact they may have on deadlines;
  • Lead the planning team in the provision and maintenance of the scheduling system, ensuring that dates are managed to deliver on cost and on time;
  • Engage with Engineering and other departments to synchronise scheuled requirements to deliver in time;
  • Work closely with the National Team Leader and your peers to ensure on time delivery;
  • Train, mentor and upskill the planning team whilst providing balanced feedback and recognition in order that they are able to run the date management system, reduce JOC and WIP cycle and deliver on key perfformance requirements (supported by SAP);
  • Document the objectives and performance of the planning team, assist in the creation and execution of effective development plans which will contribute ti the team's ability to produce high performance outcomes;

Whilst no formal qualification is necessary in this role, the following would be considered as highly advantageous:

  • Trade background
  • High  level of knowledge and experience in SAP
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or heavy machinery industries
