About Us,
MDC (Market Direct Campers) are a recognised Australian company dedicated to designing and manufacturing what are arguably Australia's most affordable, reliable off road Camper Trailers & Off Road Caravans. 2018 has shaped up to be a big year at MDC and we require an experienced Purchasing Officer & Stock Controller to join our team.

As the Purchasing Officer, you will be required to:
- Take responsibility for activities such as local and overseas purchasing, forecasting, supplier performance and price reviews, shipping and delivery
- Manage and liaise with overseas and local suppliers
- Calculate material requirements, order through approved suppliers and track order through to delivery
- Responsible to ensure most cost effective freight methods are used at all times
- Enhance the day to day support of the manufacturing team to help improve quality, cost and delivery timelines
- Responsible to ensure deliveries are received on time and are reconciled with purchase orders
- Develop & maintain relationships between the business and our preferred suppliers
- Ensure that supply of raw materials and brought-in items are times to avoid stock outs, while maintaining inventories nationally within set targets.
- Regularly control and maintain supplier databases
- Liaise with Senior Management to provide and develop the best purchasing and procurement practices
The successful applicant will bring the following:
- Have extensive experience in a similar role within the manufacturing or safety industry
- Be a self-starter and be able to develop the systems and scope of this role to meet the needs of the evolving business
- High level of computer literacy, a must, especially Excel, Cin 7 would be an advantage
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Experience with databases / excel would be highly regarded
- Proven accurate product forecasting skills
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to work autonomously in a busy environment
- Knowledge of Kanban and Lean Manufacturing Principles
- A positive team player who can communicate and work closely with sales staff, production control and plant operators to balance the conflicting demands of cost of stock and stock outs.
- The ability to negotiate the best prices with suppliers and identify alternative suppliers
- Be an excellent communicator and comfortable to give instructions to all levels of the business
