The Port of Newcastle is looking for an experienced Trade Development Specialist to help  grow and diversify Australia’s largest port on the East Coast. Here’s your opportunity to make a difference and join a team dedicated to connecting Newcastle and the Hunter region to the world.

 

The Port of Newcastle is Australia’s third largest port by trade volumes with over 4,500 shipping movements per year and nearly 170 million tonnes of trade. Recognised globally as the world’s leading coal export port, Port of Newcastle is part of the pit to port supply chain. In addition to the 161 million tonnes of coal exported per year, Port of Newcastle also handles a diverse range of 25 cargoes including dry bulk, break bulk, project, cruise ship passengers and containers.

 

As the Trade Development Specialist you will be a key member of the Customer and Strategic Development team. You will have a proven track record in identifying, facilitating and securing new trade opportunities, building effective relationships with external stakeholders, and conducting accurate and on-time research and market intelligence campaigns for new trade cargo opportunities and markets .  Strong communication and relationship management skills are a must as is a drive to succeed.

 

Above all, we are looking for someone excited by the challenge of growing and diversifying the trade and business development opportunities of a large port. Tertiary qualified, you will have well developed analytical skills and be able to work independently and within a small team environment. A knowledge of import and export supply chains would be a competitive advantage. The role is based in Newcastle with all the benefits of living and working in one of Australia’s most attractive cities.
