A new opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager to join the Supply Chain Team based at Derrimut. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing and maintaining the ordering/supply process across all portfolios within the Comcater business.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and oversee the purchasing team.
  • Ensure that goods, materials and services are ordered in accordance with specific requirements, to quantity and price, on the due date.
  • Ensure products are continuously available to fulfill sales and marketing requirements.
  • Identify and prioritise cost reduction opportunities, eg. bulk purchases, consolidation.
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships by maintaining ongoing contacts.
  • Approve orders with suppliers.
  • Expedite supply arrangements to ensure timely and cost effective delivery.
  • Monitor and maintain expected delivery dates and delivery performance of all suppliers.
  • Maintain purchase orders and systems to reflect latest information, eg delivery dates, pricing.
  • Develop a good understanding of company operating systems and identify and improve purchasing systems and procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, monitor stock holdings by product to maximise stock turns whilst minimising stock shortages.
  • Liaise with customs brokers to ensure correct duty classifications and rates to imported products.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the CFO.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive purchasing experience.
  • People management and team leadership skills and experience.
  • May have tertiary qualification in a purchasing/logistics or business related discipline.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and planning skills.
  • Problem solving and fault finding skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • High level computer skills and technical ability.
