About the role

We're looking for a goal-oriented person with drive from the logistics and freight forwarding industry to join our Sales and Business Development team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a permanent full-time B2B role responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with companies which move high volumes/values of freight and with transport providers.

What you would be doing

The main things that you would be doing include:

  • Daily contact with carriers/freight owners to determine availability of freight and transport
  • Provide consistent and exceptional service levels to Channel 40 users
  • Research new carriers/freight owners in the marketplace, generate leads, and new user relationships
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as call reports, work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management
  • Identify issues, thinking critically to determine the best course of action, and implementing solutions
  • Identify chain of responsibility regulations as they relate to a scheduler
  • Identify duties and penalties relating to a scheduler
  • Identify parties and responsible persons within the chain of responsibility
  • Identify chain of responsibility reasonable steps and liabilities
  • Understand other key features of the regulations as they relate to a scheduler
  • Follow chain of responsibility regulations as they apply to a scheduler (e.g. ensure driver rosters and driving plans adhere to work and rest hour requirements)
  • Follow workplace chain of responsibility policy and procedures
  • Complete workplace chain of responsibility documentation
  • Identify and prevent breaches of chain of responsibility
  • Report any instances of breaches of chain of responsibility.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • 3 years' experience in freight forwarding or logistics, preferably in the mining, construction or manufacturing industries
  • Proven record of increased sales
  • Ability to travel on company business, prospect new clients, and present to users by email, mobile or face-to-face meetings. 
    • Excellent networking skills
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to adhere to safety requirements.
