Our client is a well-established supplier of fabrication and labour hire services for the mining, industrial and commercial construction sectors throughout Western Australia. Their expertise encompasses Structural, Mechanical & Pipework supply and installation, using a turnkey approach under which in-house services from drafting and fabrication through to surface treatment, wear lining/surface protection and logistics culminate in successful project outcomes.

Operating from a modern purpose-built fabrication facility, their focus on quality and project delivery on time, to spec and within budget has earned the company an outstanding reputation in its market sector and underpinned the current growth phase.

That expansion has created this new role for a Dimensional Checker - QA Controller in their Welshpool based team.

Role
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the role forms a vital part of the 10 strong Project Management team. It carries responsibility for implementing quality-assurance policies that meet the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management systems standard, to ensure manufactured jobs comply with company policies and clients’ specifications.

Specific tasks within this broad brief include:

• Carrying out post fabrication Dimensional checks
• Ensuring Weld preparations and Joints comply with procedures
• Maintaining QA systems, including ITP (Inspection & Test Plan), MDR (Manufacturer’s Data Records) and QA Checklists
• Ensuring Welders and procedures are current

Candidate
The successful candidate will be analytical, results-oriented and definitive in your communication and processes, thus bringing clarity to issues that may arise. You will have at least a Cert III in Boilermaking/Welding and a track record of at least 5 years steel fabrication industry experience.

That experience will have equipped you with a comprehensive understanding of weld procedures, requirements and preparations as well as the ability to read and interpret drawings in order to understand critical dimensions.

Licences etc that would be an advantage to your application, but which are not mandatory include:

• An Australian Driver’s Licence (manual)
• Forklift licence
• Basic rigging licence
• An MR Truck licence
• Logistics knowledge and packing requirements

The successful candidate must be able to pass Medical testing and Drug & Alcohol screening.

Remuneration
A generous hourly rate applies to the role and regular overtime is available.
