Deloitte is seeking an experienced professional to deliver Technology Advisory services to small and medium Australian businesses through the AusIndustry Entrepreneurs’ Programme.

The Entrepreneurs’ Programme is the Australian Government’s flagship initiative for business competitiveness and productivity at the firm level. It forms part of the Australian Government’s new industry policy outlined in the Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda. The objective of the Entrepreneur’s Programme is to drive business growth and competitiveness by supporting business improvement and promoting economic growth through research connections and commercialisation of new products, processes and services.
The Technology Advisory service of the Entrepreneurs’ Programme is based within the Business Management element of the Programme, and designed to encourage and assist businesses to access knowledge, develop and deploy solutions, engage with researchers and foster innovation.

It aims to assist businesses to become more competitive by working with technology providers and research organisations to integrate technology solutions with commercial application, as well as to help identify any knowledge gaps that are preventing business growth. Businesses eligible for services through the Entrepreneurs’ Programme must demonstrate annual financial turnover between $1.5m - $100m.

The role:

• Subcontract basis to 30 June 2019

Technology Advisors are required to be experienced professionals with an enthusiastic and genuine interest in working with eligible businesses to establish genuine and sustainable connections with technology organisations.

You will be proactive and client focussed, with a proven track record of creating positive business outcomes, and building strong and sustainable networks. Your objective will be to identify technical knowledge related issues and/or opportunities and provide assistance in addressing those and supporting knowledge transfer.

The majority of your time will be spent working with businesses in the advanced manufacturing and medical technologies/ pharmaceuticals sectors, however you may occasionally support other sectors such as food and agribusiness, mining, oil and gas.

Ideally, you will have an understanding of the IM CRC and the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre, and a sound understanding of its interconnectedness with the Entrepreneurs’ Programme. Preferably, you would be able to demonstrate experience in innovative product development, industrial design, manufacturing technologies and systems, and Industry 4.0.

This is a national role, and will require significant travel over the duration of the contract.

Your role may include:
• Building meaningful relationships and connections with Entrepreneurs’ Programme Advisors and Facilitators;
• Working with businesses to identify a certain technological challenge, and identify potential technology solutions, vendors and service providers to solve a particular problem;
• Supporting businesses to leverage new technologies and connect to potential industry partners and contacts;
• Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders;
• Connecting to the most appropriate source of expertise, suppliers of technology and technical knowledge advice (i.e. manufacturing and process automation, product development and validation)
• Providing guidance regarding implementation considerations and options; and
• Providing solution pathways to address the identified knowledge and capability gaps.

Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Technical expertise - experience working in technological advisory with clients to identify and address issues, and an ability to transfer technology solutions and innovations across different industries.
• Communication skills - an ability to communicate with equipment vendors, technology providers and business community and broker working relationships.
• Relationship building - advanced stakeholder, relationship and client management and engagement skills and experience, including collaboration with business, industry associations, research organisations, IM CRC and the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre.
• Specialist analytical and research skills (i.e. methodology) - an ability to demonstrate exceptional research capabilities specifically pertaining to technology and research and strong capabilities in researching, accessing and communicating technical and knowledge related issues.
• Business development capabilities - demonstrated experience in business development and actively building, maintaining and managing a pipeline of customers.
• Conceptual and Analytical Ability - use conceptual thinking and sound analytical approaches to support businesses and decision making in the work area.
• Creativity and Innovation - support decision makers to design and implement new or cutting-edge programs and processes, and develop new insights into situations, through applying innovative solutions to make improvements in the work area.
