THE CLIENT
The client is a dominant Australian energy infrastructure business at the heart of the New South Wales network. With an enviable presence across the electricity and networks space, this business is growing at a rapid rate, constantly innovating and improving in order to deliver the best possible customer results.
With a growing strategy function and a high performing commercial team, this organisation is now looking for a keen strategic mind to help drive growth, manage high value projects and influence and engage stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.
THE ROLE
As a strategy consultant in the commercial business, you will assist the team in identifying growth opportunities, developing new client and customer bases, and generally improving the network performance. You will have a keen strategic toolkit, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and, ideally, exposure to the energy industry. Specifically, you will:
- Identify potential growth opportunities for the business and undertake detailed scenario analysis and business case development to support
- Engage and advise senior leaders in the business, influencing at all levels of the organisation
- Undertake competitor and market analysis to understand how to better service electricity generators and retailers
- Lead pricing, budgeting, forecasting and valuations activity and work with senior business stakeholders to ensure key projects are managed and delivered internally
- Support the broader strategy function of the business to ensure strategic alignment
- Build rapport and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders, both internal and external
- Improve customer lives by aligning business services with customer preferences
YOUR PROFILE
Apart from a hands on approach and a collaborative working style, you will have
- At least 2 years' experience in a top tier consulting firm. Please note that applicants with consulting experience will be strongly preferred
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence
- Strong financial modeling and analysis, and demonstrated ability to undertake long term strategic planning and business case development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A familiarity with "heavy" industries, particularly energy and electricity experience in oil/gas, mining and resources will be highly regarded
- Preferably, a background in commerce, engineering or similar discipline
