MRA seeks to recruit a Environmental Engineers/Scientist or someone from a related discipline with (ideally) a minimum of 3 years experience in the waste and recycling industry in Australia.

Key capacities and skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in engineering, Bachelor of Science (Environmental Sciences) Master of Science or Relevant degree in environmental science/management, engineering or planning
  • Skills and knowledge in sustainability and/or waste management
  • Well-developed experience in one or more areas of waste management
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and delivery
  • Data analysis and modelling experience
  • Very strong and profound excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong experience demonstrating team work
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Ability to work in an innovative manner
  • Ability to undertake business development activities

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead project activities including:
    • Research (e.g. Into legislation, technology types)
    • Data collection
    • Data analysis
    • Finalising reports.
  • Manage projects under the direction of company director or a principal consultant.
  • Assist bid managers to compile bids and proposals for future work.
  • Participate in project activities including but not limited to:
    • Working in the field under the supervision of the project manager or audit coordinator.
    • Being available to work irregular hours where required on an occasional basis.
    • Perform interactive community activities
  • Assisting the senior staff and directors with management tasks as required
  • Develop in an area of waste management

Method of working

You will be required to undertake this work through:

  • Liaison with stakeholders either over the phone or face to face or via email
  • Summarising qualitative research in text documents
  • Collating quantitative research in excel documents
  • Active participation in project activities
  • Attending meetings

Our expectations of you

As an MRA team member you will be expected to:

  • Have 3-6 years’ experience in consultancy or area of strength
  • Use your project work as an opportunity to develop a sound understanding of the waste industry (through background reading, reading current publications, attending relevant seminars etc. where advised)
  • Attend fortnightly team meetings
  • Ensure you have the information you require to undertake any work given to you and to inform the project manager or business director where you are unsure
  • To show a positive attitude to taking on work, subject to your availability (and university commitments if relevant)

  • Self-starter and enthusiastic to learn
