Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We are looking for an experienced and capable Lube Technician to join the site mechanical maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and installation of mechanical components and equipment ensuring operational maintenance requirements are met to Karara Mining Ltd's standards of safety, efficiency and quality.
This role operates on an 8:6 roster.
Key responsibilities:
- Demonstrate personal commitment to safety and every day safety leadership by meeting all Karara's safety policy and procedure requirements
- Executing lubrication tasks related to processing plant equipment
- Perform visual machine inspections
- Oil and grease system changes and sample collection
- Perform minor equipment modifications
- Assist in developing shut down work scopes with planning team
- Assist maintenance technicians with projects and work orders
- Assist in developing shutdown work packs
- Actively participate in reviews of the maintenance systems with a view towards continuous improvement
- Improve availability, reduce downtime and prevent potential equipment failure
Key requirements:
- Mechanical trade certificate or equivalent
- HRWL forklift
- HRWL rigging
- Current WA drivers license
- Working at heights
- Confined space rigging
- Previous experience in the same or similar role within the mining industry
