Round Oak Minerals is a subsidiary of Washington H. Soul Pattinson & Co Ltd (WHSP). This includes a Cloncurry Operation with a centralised processing facility located 4km from the township of Cloncurry in North Queensland servicing a number of mining tenements in the area.  Additionally, Round Oak Minerals also has projects in South Australia, Victoria and has just recently acquired the Jaguar Mine in Western Australia. 2018 is shaping up to be a year of significant growth for the Company.
 

The Role

Round Oak Minerals is currently searching for an experienced Alternate Underground Manager to join the team at our Jaguar Operation. Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing our mining operation and contributing to the development of our operational strategy for the Jaguar operations. This permanent full time position role is offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth or DIDO from surrounding areas.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sign off as Alternative Underground Manager when Underground Manager is offsite;
  • Ensure mine plans are reviewed and distributed to the mining group in a timely fashion;
  • Interact closely with all other departments on-site to ensure budgets and forecasts are prepared in a timely manner;
  • Ensure the timely achievement of daily underground development physicals and ore supply to the processing plant, including attending at meetings and reporting of daily physicals;
  • Assist in the control of costs, report of costs and have an understanding of target unit rates;
  • Contribute to and monitor the Ground Control Management Plan and ensure adherence to such;
  • Generate new and varied solutions to problems to improve existing work practices and procedures;
  • Make timely decisions and prioritisations to meet organisational objectives; and
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to Technical Services Team.
     

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong focus and commitment to safety;
  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering accompanied by previous experience in a similair role;
  • WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency;
  • Solid background in Drill & Blast, Ventilation and Mine Planning accompanied by a strong commercial acumen;
  • Excellent computer skills and be a competent user of mining industry software (Deswik experience is desirable); and
  • Demonstrable track record of involvement and achievement in successful projects, and be able to articulate your contribution to those results.
