Leading national renewable energy and carbon abatement company LMS ENERGY requires the services of a Field Service Technician. You will be required to report to the Senior Project Manager where your role will primarily involve strategically commissioning landfill gas-to-energy and solar projects across Australia. You will need to ensure these multi-million-dollar projects are commissioned to a high degree of quality and in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner. Working from within the Project Construction Group, you will work collaboratively with Engineering and Operations to ensure each project is successfully commissioned and transitioned to the operating phase. A particular focus will be on control and automation aspects of commissioning renewable energy facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop commissioning plans, testing and verification checklists and post project closeout plans
- Coordinate, programming and commissioning of LMS plant and equipment
- Integrate control systems using SCADA programs, Citect and Red Lion
- Apply PLC ladder logic systems using Allen Bradley SLC500, RSLogix and Horner CSCAPE software
- Incorporate communication systems using Modbus, CANbus, IP/TCP protocol and VPN network data, HART controllers and HMI systems
- Apply knowledge and technical understanding in the field of electrical engineering covering power distribution, control circuit schematic diagrams, electrical protection systems, earthing systems and VFD configuration
- Apply a wholistic and hands-on approach to fault finding field equipment, as well as assist the Project Construction Group as required
- Provide technical support (sometimes after hours) to the Operations Group through continuous improvement, maintenance planning requirements, troubleshooting and fault finding
- Provide support to the Engineering Group to design, develop and innovate control systems architecture
- Interpret, mark-up and/or modify P&ID’s, schematics and I/O lists in accordance with selected instrumentation and equipment
- Apply an understanding and application of relevant standards, codes and guidelines
- Conduct Risk Management through preparation of risk assessments and HAZOP’s
- Ensure proper implementation of OHS requirements and adherence to corporate policies and procedures
- Co-ordinate and supervise sub-contractors for outsourced work through installation and commissioning phases
Requirements:
- A trade certificate in Electrotechnology - Electrician
- A minimum of 5+ working years in the power generation or automation industry
- Knowledge of local safety, electrical and grid regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, team working skills
- A hands-on approach with a strong can-do attitude
- Display initiative through self-management in an autonomous environment
- Attention to detail, advanced problem-solving and time management skills
- Aspirations to develop and excel in new skills and areas of the business

- Regular interstate travel to support site operational requirements and new project
- Hold a current Australian driver’s license
