This is a unique opportunity to join the Drilling & Completions team based in Brisbane. Working closely with a team of experienced drilling engineers you'll be responsible for performing front end engineering design and evaluation of unconventional oil and gas projects. In addition to the front end well planning, the Senior Drilling Engineer will project manage the well program execution operations - to safely & efficiently deliver Origin's well requirements on budget, on schedule and legislatively compliant. The Senior Drilling Engineer will also provide technical mentorship to junior and graduate engineers within the team.
Responsibilities will include:
- Continuous HSE improvement across all Drilling operations driving towards zero harm
- Budget & schedule performance across all engineering aspects of well drilling operations
- Well Drilling Engineering from conception to field execution through preparation of cost estimates, development of well design, well operational procedures and programs and well technology implementation
- Monitor and provide technical support for all daily well Drilling operations for which they are responsible to ensure work is executed as per the approved program
- Daily verification of accuracy and quality of the Wellview data captured by the Drilling Wellsite Representative and ensure scope of work remains on approved plan
- Coordination and management of rigs and all related service providers
- Provide leadership and direction for all wellsite personnel
- Participate in and potentially supervise various Drilling wellsite operations
- Technical evaluation and implementation of value improvement initiatives

- Bachelor of Engineering recognised in Australia
- Experience in factory style oil and gas development projects, implementing incremental improvement processes
- Coal bed methane exploration and development drilling experience
- Horizontal drilling experience
- Experiencing working in the field/on rigs
- Experience in mentoring junior engineering staff on technical development
- Ability to work in a cross disciplinary team, interfacing with field teams, contractors, subsurface teams and surface engineering teams.
- A high level understanding of the entire value chain of LNG production
