Events Manager – 12 Month Maternity Leave Placement

The Common Good is a movement of everyday Australians, businesses and community groups who are investing in medical researchers to make the discoveries that will improve our quality of life.

As the custodians of this national movement The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation (TPCHF) collaborates with dedicated researchers empowering them to target the chronic diseases that will affect 90% of Australians.

Together we are People Powering Medical Discoveries…for The Common Good.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Events Manager to undertake a 12-month maternity leave contract. Events play an integral role in the Foundation’s efforts to raise funds, connect with and acquire new supporters, and gain momentum and awareness around The Common Good cause, so this role is critically important to our success.

In conjunction with the Events Coordinator, and working side-by-side with the Partnerships and Fundraising Departments, this role provides key oversight across a number of high-profile events, including our participation at the Royal Brisbane Show, our annual Cycle of Giving bike ride, Echo Australia Conference, Research Awards and more.

The role has the following key focus areas:

  • Driving the development of event strategies in conjunction with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team
  • Achieving revenue targets for the overall event budget
  • Forming, executing and reviewing event plans and timelines
  • Coordinating and managing major fundraising, donor recognition and engagement events to ensure budgets and project requirements are met
  • Accountability of event performance and outcomes, including responsibility of overseeing the entire program of events, not just the logistical requirements
  • Exploring opportunities for the Foundation to run new events, and become beneficiary of external events
  • Managing a small team and continuing the development of the Events Coordinator

We are looking for someone with a specific type of events experience, which includes:

  • Peer to peer fundraising events
  • Conferences and dinners
  • Major event infrastructure
  • Retail experience
  • Experience working with a volunteer workforce is critical

You will be an outstanding manager of relationships, people, time and logistics. You will love the hands-on appeal of large-scale events, and your passion for doing things the right way will inspire and motivate colleagues and stakeholders to uphold the incredibly high expectations that we have for every one of our events.

Our major events include:

  • Cycle of Giving
  • Ekka Strawberry Sundae Stalls
  • Echo Australia Conference
  • The Prince Charles Hospital’s “Charlie’s Week”

The ability to always ask "what is the purpose of this event" is critical. For everything we do it first starts with "why".

Benefits & Culture

Culture is important to us.  We look for team players who are considerate of their colleagues and their working environment.  We want people who come to work (and leave to go home!) with a smile on their face.  At times there's a need to roll up our sleeves to assist other departments, you'll be the kind of person who doesn't think twice about pitching in. We offer an incredibly supportive team, a relaxed working environment, staff development and training opportunities, a competitive salary and the added bonus of salary packaging to significantly increase your take home pay, free parking and discounted coffee!
