About the Tourism Department
This department is part of our Investment & Attraction Division, and is responsible for growing and supporting the visitor economy through partnership, industry leadership, promotion and development. We seek to have Greater Geelong and The Bellarine recognised as a global destination that delivers world standard visitor experiences.
About the role
This position will deliver industry development programs for our innovative tourism member businesses, with the aim of improving the professionalism and excellence of our tourism offerings. You will create and implement workshops, conferences and mentoring programs, monitor outcomes, undertake research projects, and assist in the development of action plans and budgets.
Key responsibilities
- Role model and promote Council values in all aspects of duty.
- Create and implement an industry development program.
- Develop, implement and evaluate tourism monitoring programs.
- Develop, implement and evaluate relevant tourism research and trend analysis.
- Assist in the development of Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine’s (TGB) annual action plan and budget.
- Provide strategic advice and assistance in the development of key tourism special projects.
Key selection criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in tourism management, business OR relevant experience.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills in research relating to the tourism industry.
- Ability to develop event plans relating to industry development programs with multifaceted programs to cater for the majority of business levels.
- Ability to identify emerging trends and develop new ideas for the tourism industry.
- Demonstrated commitment to action and deliver projects on time, within budget and with a strong attention to detail.
