Contal is a young, fun company that runs two Fortitude Valley bars and is gearing up to open a third venue soon at Roma Street Brisbane. We are seeking an enthusiastic Sales and Marketing Assistant to work with us to support the growth of our existing bars as well as be a part of the launch of our all-new Brisbane CBD venue.

This full-time (flexible) in-house position is located in Brisbane's vibrant Fortitude Valley. Flexibility with hours is required to enable attendance at the beginnings of after-hours functions to ensure they run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate bookings, follow up on requests, and welcome guests (including after normal business hours)
• Sell functions (mainly incoming calls) and sell function food in advance to assist with stock order estimating
• Coordinate with project manager, venue managers, and other staff on marketing campaigns and projects, event planning and support
• Work on maintaining the brand image and website for Elixir Rooftop Bar, our rooftop bar in Fortitude Valley (facebook.com/elixirrooftop)
• Participate in maintaining the brand image and website for XY2 Bar (facebook.com/XandYBrisbane)
• Participate in developing the brand image and website for our new venue
• Work on the social media presence of each respective brand
• Ensure brand and promotional consistency in all online and print elements
• Produce imagery in the styles on our existing websites and social media, repurposing existing marketing collateral (e.g. from established events and campaigns) and creating new material as necessary in a consistent style and voice
• Ensure that online and offline content remains current and accurate
• Assist with the editing and proofreading of copy on our web sites and print materials
• Manage the design and development of print advertisements and other marketing materials from concept to delivery
• Write regular and ad-hoc emails and newsletter copy for our customers as required

Factors needed to be successful in this role are:

• A degree or diploma in a relevant field, or progress towards a degree or diploma in a relevant field
• Excellent communication skills
• A genuine enthusiasm for hospitality sales and a desire to contribute your skills on our teams to help with the smooth running and growth of our brands
• Ability to work from concept through to delivery
• Ability to plan, prioritise and work to deadlines
• A good eye for detail
• Familiarity with principles of writing for different media (print, web, advertising), in particular for the web
• Excellent spelling and grammar
• Strong computer literacy (email, word processing software) and willingness to learn to work with our in-house-developed management system
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud tools
• Some basic web development experience (HTML) will be viewed as a bonus, but not necessary
